SIZING

Show pad sizes are listed as spine length × total width, measured in inches.

For example, a 34 × 40 show pad is 34 inches long along the spine and 40 inches wide across the full pad. The 40-inch width provides approximately 20 inches of drop on each side.

Show pad sizes are listed as spine length × total width. The first number is the spine length. The second number is the full width and determines the drop on each side.

SPECIAL SIZES:

• 20 × 26 Mini: approximately 13 inches of drop per side
• 22 × 24 Small Pony: approximately 12 inches of drop per side
• 26 × 30 Large Pony: approximately 15 inches of drop per side
• 32 × 36 Arabian: approximately 18 inches of drop per side

STANDARD SIZES:

• 34 × 38: approximately 19 inches of drop per side
• 34 × 40: approximately 20 inches of drop per side
• 34 × 42: approximately 21 inches of drop per side
• 34 × 44: approximately 22 inches of drop per side

A larger second number provides more coverage below the saddle. Available sizes vary by design and are shown on each product listing.

Special, custom, and nonstandard sizes are final sale.

Email customerservice@saguaroshowpads.com with the design and size you need. We will send you an invoice reflecting your requested size. All custom-sized pad sales are final.

Our Show Pad Size Guide explains how each size works and how to choose the right coverage for your horse, saddle, and work pad.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Show pads are larger and provide more visible coverage around the saddle for a polished show-ring look.

Ranch pads have a more compact profile with less bulk. Their versatile size works well for ranch riding, reining, trail riding, mounted shooting, barrel racing, and everyday use.

Weight and thickness vary by size, pattern, and quality tier.

Show pads are generally around 3/4 inch thick and weigh approximately 8 to 10 pounds.

Ranch pads are generally less than 1/2 inch thick and weigh approximately 3 to 6 pounds. Their thinner profile provides less bulk and a closer-contact feel.

Upgraded and First Class pads may have more weight and body due to their denser construction. First Class is our heaviest and tightest-woven quality tier.

These measurements describe the woven top pad. A separate work pad supplies the primary cushioning.

Yes. Show pads and ranch pads are woven top pads and should be paired with a work pad or pad liner underneath.

The layer underneath provides the primary cushioning, protects the woven pad from sweat, and helps create the proper fit between your horse and saddle. A thinner liner can reduce bulk and provide a closer-contact feel.

Saguaro also offers a line of premium work pads and liner pads designed to pair with our show pads and ranch pads.

Each quality tier reflects the pad’s materials, weave density, weight, body, wear leathers, and finish.

STANDARD
Our most accessible quality tier. Standard pads feature original Saguaro designs, quality handwoven construction, and standard single-sided wear leathers.

UPGRADED
A more substantial pad with finer materials, a tighter weave, greater density, brighter colors, more detailed patterns, and upgraded double-sided wear leathers.

FIRST CLASS
Our highest quality tier. First Class pads feature finer wool, our tightest weave, the most substantial weight and feel, and upgraded double-sided wear leathers.

Exact weight, thickness, and construction may vary by size and design. Review the individual product listing for complete specifications.

Yes. Every Saguaro pattern is original, hand-drawn, and copyrighted before production. Each pad is then handwoven using the selected pattern and color palette.

Because of the handwoven construction, slight variations in weave, dimensions, yarn color, and pattern placement may occur. These natural variations make each pad unique.

Colors may also appear different depending on lighting and your screen settings.

Re-Order pads must be ordered in their original color palette. Colors cannot be changed when purchasing a Re-Order.

Color changes require a custom order. Custom ordering opens only on a limited basis and may remain closed for extended periods due to design workload, production capacity, and current order volume.

When custom ordering is available, you may change one color or create an entirely new color palette using an existing Saguaro design.

Custom availability will be announced on our website and social media. Digital mock-ups and yarn colors may vary slightly from the finished handwoven pad.

PAD CARE

Saguaro pads are woven with hand-dyed wool. Water saturation may cause the colors to run or bleed.

For routine care:

  • Allow the pad to air-dry completely after use.
  • Remove loose hair and dust with a clean, soft brush or low-suction handheld vacuum.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry white cloth. Do not rub.
  • Use a work pad or liner underneath to reduce sweat and dirt buildup.

Do not soak, hose, pressure wash, steam clean, machine wash, or machine dry your pad. Avoid hot water, bleach, stain removers, and household detergents.

For stains or deep cleaning, use a professional cleaner experienced with hand-dyed wool rugs and leather trim. The cleaner should test every color for dye stability before using water.

Never fold or store your pad while it is damp.

Make sure your pad is completely clean and dry before storing or packing it. Store it flat or draped evenly over a wide saddle-pad rack in a cool, dry area. Avoid direct sunlight, damp storage, sharp folds, and placing heavy items on top of it.

Each pad includes a complimentary clear dust cover for basic protection during storage. Although the dust cover has a handle, it is not designed for frequent carrying or travel.

For hauling and traveling to shows, we recommend an embroidered mesh-sided carrying case. The mesh sides provide better airflow than the standard dust cover, allowing your pad to breathe while helping protect the weave, fringe, and wear leathers during transport.

Never place a damp pad inside a dust cover or carrying case.

Remove your pad from the horse and blot excess moisture with a clean, dry white cloth. Place it flat or drape it evenly over a wide saddle-pad rack in a well-ventilated area.

Allow the pad to air-dry completely. Do not use heat, direct sunlight, or a clothes dryer. Because the wool is hand-dyed, keep the wet pad away from other fabrics and surfaces that could be stained if the colors bleed.

Do not place a damp pad inside its dust cover or carrying case.

Wipe the wear leathers with a clean, slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. Allow them to dry, then apply a small amount of quality leather conditioner with a cloth.

Keep water, oils, and conditioner away from the woven wool because they may cause staining or color transfer. Do not saturate the leather or apply conditioner directly to the pad.

Hand wash your shirt in cold water with a mild detergent, then hang it to air-dry. Do not use bleach, wring the fabric, or place the shirt in a dryer.

Spot-clean makeup and stains promptly with a soft microfiber cloth. Use a garment steamer or an iron on the lowest setting to remove wrinkles. Always test heat on a hidden area first.

Store your shirt on a wide hanger in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving it inside a hot trailer for extended periods.

Spot-clean the shirt whenever possible using cold water, mild detergent, and a soft cloth. Gently blot the fabric. Do not scrub the stones or soak the shirt.

Avoid machine washing, tumble drying, bleach, and high heat. Never place an iron or garment steamer directly over the stones because heat may loosen the adhesive or damage their finish.

After wearing, allow the shirt to air out completely. Store it on a wide, sturdy hanger inside a breathable garment bag, with enough space to prevent the stones from rubbing against other garments.

For deep cleaning, use a professional cleaner experienced with stoned western show clothing.

WORK PADS

Both styles measure 31 × 32 inches and are available in 3/4-inch and 1-inch thicknesses.

CorePro™ features a contoured profile made from 100% wool felt. Choose CorePro™ if you prefer a traditional all-wool work pad.

LiftFit™ combines wool felt with a neoprene bottom and includes a built-in front lift. Choose LiftFit™ if you prefer a hybrid construction with added lift through the front of the pad.

Both styles include premium wear leathers and may be used beneath a Saguaro show pad or ranch pad.

Choose the thickness based on your horse, saddle fit, workload, and the total amount of padding you plan to use.

3/4-inch work pad provides a lower-profile fit with less bulk. It is often preferred when layering a show pad or ranch pad over it.

1-inch work pad provides a thicker, more substantial layer beneath the saddle.

Consider the combined thickness of every layer. A thicker pad cannot correct an improperly fitted saddle. If you are unsure which thickness your horse needs, consult a qualified saddle fitter.

After each ride, allow the pad to air-dry completely with the underside exposed. Once dry, remove loose hair and dirt from the wool felt with a rubber curry comb or firm brush.

For LiftFit™, wipe the neoprene bottom with a damp cloth after use. For heavier sweat buildup, use a small amount of mild soap and cool water, then remove all soap residue with a clean damp cloth.

Do not machine wash, machine dry, pressure wash, bleach, or store the pad while damp. Clean and condition the wear leathers separately, keeping leather products away from the felt and neoprene.

Yes. Both CorePro™ and LiftFit™ are complete work pads designed for everyday riding and may be used alone beneath your saddle.

They may also be used as the base layer beneath a Saguaro show pad or ranch pad. When layering pads, consider the total thickness and confirm that your saddle still fits correctly. Keep both pads centered, smooth, and lifted into the saddle’s gullet to maintain wither clearance.
